MORRIS — After having to cancel all of their events in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Morris Cruise Night is ready to open up its season Saturday night in downtown Morris. Vendors must go through Wyeth in order to advertise or sell products at the event. He has denied big-name companies like Budweiser to lend more space for downtown businesses to benefit. Fourteen years ago, Herb Wyeth gathered friends to propose a fun, non-profit event to benefit the community. Since then, Morris Cruise Nights has developed into one of the largest celebrations of car collectors in Illinois. Downtown Morris will be home to all kinds of different show cars at 6 p.m.
“People are ready to get out and this is an outdoor event, so I have a feeling there’s going to be a lot of people coming downtown. Wyeth said he wouldn’t be surprised if Saturday’s event tops the previous record of 917 cars on display. The cars will line Liberty Street as well as Benton, Chapin, North, Jackson, Jefferson, Main and W. For all fourteen years, Morris Cruise Nights have been held on Saturdays on the second week of the month.
Your business will proudly welcome those in attendance for the duration of each event, including the Grundy County Corn Festival, held in September. The Morris Cruise Night will be having a Thanks Giving-Back event on Friday November 3rd from 5-8 pm at the intersection of Liberty and Washington Streets in Morris. Herb Wyeth from Cruise Night was on WCSJ’s People Are Talking Program and said that this special event is not going to be like a normal cruise night. At each event, the Cruise Night committee chooses an organization and allows that organization to sell 50/50 raffle tickets as well as having a food booth.

Our highest car count to date is 972 cars with 11 states represented. We give back to the community through profit distribution to local charities from funds raised through beneficiary 50/50 ticket sales and food booth sales. No alcohol is allowed and the proceeds from the $10 entry fee for registered vehicles are split between the winning car and charitable organizations. Some to Wyeth’s Alma Mater, Grundy Area Vocational Center, to benefit students who desire to build a career working with their hands. Some is donated to the Golden Wrench Scholarship, which Morris Cruise Night provides to students interested in automotive technology. All beneficiaries require an extensive approval process, where Wyeth and his team sort through applications, perform interviews and vote on possible charities.
They extended from the summer into October to connect with a Lion Club event, maximizing attendance and bringing even more business to downtown Morris. The beneficiary will be Grundy County Heroes and Helpers, and raffle tickets will again be sold to raise money. The first Morris Cruise Night of the season was a successful one, drawing 919 vehicle entries and even more people to Liberty Street in Morris.
The two organizations that will benefit from the event are the Grundy Community Lending Closet and The Grundy County Veterans Assistance Commission. Organizer Herb Wyeth said it was a good event and made for a good night that drew people from as far away as Surprise, Ariz. 134 cities were represented, eight of which were from out of state. No pre-registration is necessary, and cars must enter Washington Street from Route 47 to pay the $10 entry fee. Saturday’s beneficiary will be the Morris Police Benevolent Society. Morris Cruise Night returns for its August date with classic cars, new cars, fast cars, loud cars and more, filling Downtown Morris with almost 1,000 vehicles. Careful planning is certainly part if the reasons for ESCOT’s success, but another significant factor has been the involvement of the Scotts’ children, Brian and Pam.

If you get off too early you may have a considerable wait. There is a wide range of accommodation in Sofia, I highly recommend staying somewhere in the city centre. That way, you won’t have to spend time stuck in traffic or on the metro. You’ll also gave the more obvious convenience of being close to the main tourist attractions and restaurants. There are a couple of ATMs at Sofia Airport’s two terminals.
This way you can drive to the port (it’s about 215 miles from Miami) and not have to worry about parking. To help you find a place offering a shuttle, we have a list of hotels with Orlando airport and cruise port shuttles for Port Canaveral. Smaller mobility aids such as canes or crutches may travel inside the bus in the overhead compartment or under your seat.
We will carry your mobility scooter, however we must be notified in advance. A signed waiver and release form is required before boarding. There are several stations until you get to the city centre.
You do not need a ticket to board however, when you book online, you will receive a confirmation of your transfer information via e-mail. There’s only one taxi company that is licensed to operate at the airport. It’s called OK Supertrans (ОК Супертранс, in Bulgarian). Their cars are modern and many of the drivers speak English – not all of them. Like many other airports around the world, there will be some taxi drivers offering to take you to the city as soon as you get into the arrivals hall.

Rosslyn Thracia Hotel Sofia is a 4-star hotel with great guest ratings located right in the city centre. The rooms have a modern classic decor and are very spacious, with beautiful bathrooms. Several companies offer this service and this is one of my favourites. But I have listed below other reliable companies offering transfers from Sofia Airport.
You should note that this is shared shuttle service that may be on a schedule. Typically there are several departure times from the airport, and you will ride to the port with other cruise passengers. When you call for lift-equipped service, please be prepared to give full details on your mobility device, if any, including type, dimensions and weight. For safety reasons, sales staff may ask you if the combined weight of wheelchair and passenger is 600 pounds or less. Also advise us if you wish to transfer to a seat rather than traveling in your wheelchair or scooter.
Rates and service level can vary from company to company and will fluctuate. There are a number of companies in competition and some run specials from time to time. The cheapest rates we’ve found are $36 per person round trip by Orlando Cruise Line Connection. For most of the other shared shuttle services, expect to pay about $50-60 and more per person for round trip service. All of these shuttles run from the airport to the port. As a top cruise retailer, we receive exclusive offers from the major cruise lines and various travel services.
If you want to make stops before your cruise or you are flying in early, then these shuttles are not an option. For that reason, we prefer other modes of transportation. A one-way trip from the Orlando airport to Port Canaveral by taxi is estimated at $115. Keep in mind that multiple passengers can ride for the price of one.
